Today's dinner - stuffed sweet pepper unstuffed

Today, Sachi had to work even after arriving home, so, when I arrived, I decided, hungry as I was, I decided to recreate the dish I first learnt to cook nearlyr 30 years ago - stuffed sweet pepper. Interestingly I learnt how to cook, buy ingredients, set the table, calculate cost, serve and clean up all the mess (well I didn't really learn that one 😜) at school, when I was 13. Usually, you would staff red or green sweet peppers with a mix of minced meat, bread pieces soaked in milk, egg and spices, and place it in a pot with tomato sauce made of chopped root vegi, onion, garlic and obviously tomato (I also put some white wine for the taste while cooking).
Well, I had everything at home, but the red sweet pepper... On the other side I had some pimientos de patron.
So, I made this...

Same taste, different looks 😏 So tasty!

Lucky and happy man's lunch 😍

My lunch for tomorrow, made with left over from our dinner.

Lettuce temaki (minced meat wrapped in lettuce)

Sachi prepared today something really simple, but so tasty (it's one of my favourite fast food). Lettuce Temaki (selfrolled minced meat in lettuce - without rice though).

It consists of minced meat, sake, mirin, soy sauce, bit of chilly, ginger, salt, pepper and sweet miso (which can be replaced with miso and sugar).
Despite of the long list of ingredients (that just surprised me, as I once did it myself and used for similar taste completely different things 😅) it takes less than 10min to prepare.
It's eaten by taking a lettuce leaf in the hand, put a spoonful of minced meat on it, roll it and eat it.
You should try!

Beefstock update...

finished, now we just need to clear it. In this way, it will last for at least 2-3 months.

Beefstock - selfmade

As we found some beef bones at the local supermarket, we decided to prepare a nice beefstock with parsnip, celery root and carrots.

Looking forward to taste it... still some hours to go

Sunday Lunch (nearly could outsource cooking)

Today, as Sachi had some social event, I stayed at home with the two teenies. We decided that after the light japanese dinner yesterday, we should also have a very light lunch. Leberwurstgröstl (again 😏)
I offered the 14 year old one to prepare lunch (it's never too early to start learning how to prepare nice food), and initially she was really excited, because she really loves cooking. (She did Donkatsu the other day for herself and a friend of hers).
Right  before lunchtime, this happened... 😰

So I had to cook myself...

Dinner with friends

This evening we had a very nice dinner with friends at home. It was a international dinner with greek, spanish, german, chinese, austrian and japanese sitting together. The expectation of our friends was to  have some healthy, low fat japanese food. But while we where preparing, we realized, for the delight of our teenagers, that all japanese food was deepfried 😅
Still, we had a very nice variation of food, Japanese kushikatsu (meat, vegi or what ever you feel like, on a stick, coated with panko and deep fried in vegetable oil), gyoza and sushi as well as tzatziki and a very tasty greek salad.
